About Zena

As an English tutor with a passion for education, I am in a great position to make a positive impact on future students. Balancing my professional life with my personal interests is super fulfilling. Here’s a bit more about how my interests:

Travel: I live for traveling. I use the places I've visited to bring global perspectives and cultural nuances into my lessons, making them more engaging and relevant. Sharing experiences from my travels can also help illustrate language use in different contexts.

Reading: As an avid reader, I love having a deep appreciation for language and storytelling. I usually share my favorite books and authors with my students, recommend reading materials, and use literature to teach different aspects of English.

I also have two dogs that I call my children and I'm married to my best friend. I love meeting new people and making a difference in any way I can.

Education: Your passion for educating individuals is at the core of your work. Whether you’re focusing on grammar, conversation skills, or literary analysis, your dedication helps shape your students’ language abilities and confidence.

English lessons can be incredibly diverse, depending on what you're focusing on—whether it's grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, or speaking skills. Here’s a brief overview of different aspects of English lessons:

Grammar: This includes understanding sentence structure, parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.), tenses, and punctuation. Grammar lessons help you construct sentences correctly and convey your ideas clearly.

Vocabulary: Building a rich vocabulary is essential for effective communication. Lessons often involve learning new words, their meanings, synonyms, antonyms, and usage in different contexts.

Reading Comprehension: This involves understanding and interpreting texts. Lessons might include reading passages, analyzing their meaning, identifying main ideas, and answering questions about the text.

Writing: Writing lessons focus on crafting well-structured essays, reports, and creative pieces. You might work on organizing ideas, developing arguments, and using proper grammar and style.

Speaking: Speaking lessons are about improving pronunciation, fluency, and confidence in verbal communication. This might involve conversations, presentations, and exercises to practice speaking clearly and effectively.

It depends on each student of course, that is why knowing and setting your learning goals should be the first thing we need to agree on.

Listening: Listening skills are crucial for understanding spoken English. Lessons often include listening to audio clips or conversations and then discussing or answering questions about them.
