Critical thinking skills are encouraging students these days to analyze the subject in a more detailed way. I do this by asking questions that don’t just have a ‘yes or no’ answer or by applying the Socratic method to point out illogical conclusions made by the student and also apply assessment through games methodology: After teaching a particular topic, I test the student’s comprehension. Also I believe that good tutors are characterised by allowing their student’s voice to be heard more than their own. To ensure the students do not tune out and lose interest in what I'm teaching, I use frequent pauses to ensure the student has understood what I have just been explaining.
