About Crystal

My studies at Curtin University included creative writing, semiotics, communication, narratology and art history. I have over 9 years of tutoring experience, including solo classes, groups and workshops. I taught at a weekend school for over 4 years and have been lucky to work with students of diverse ages, cultural backgrounds and neurotypes. Along with teaching privately, I run creative workshops for local libraries. My focus is on helping students become resilient, confident learners who communicate well and enjoy doing it.

About the lesson

Using your long-term goals, I create a plan of smaller short-term goals for us to work on and achieve together. My classes are very adaptive and flexible, using your learning styles and preferences to create an environment best suited to you.

I specialise in English, English Literature, Art History and general communication (both text and visual). I can help you with:

* Essay-writing foundations (structure, communicating ideas, relevancy and editing)
* Analysing media (traditional, digital, visual, audio, text, mixed media)
* Using relevant, domain-adjacent knowledge to show extra cultural understanding (sociology, psychology and history tend to weave into English and Art History topics very closely).

Lessons are generally an hour long, but can be adjusted to your needs.

No morning availabilities - sorry!

I can’t recommend Crystal enough! As someone who’s had private tutors all my life for various academic, musical and fitness pursuits, I have never had a more empathetic, knowledgeable and patient teacher. Every time she explains a concept to me, it’s like doors have opened in my mind and I can see things I couldn’t see before.

If you’re lucky enough to work with Crystal, you’re in for such a transformative experience. She can genuinely teach anything to anyone, and she does it with such love, warmth and enthusiasm that you’ll always (ALWAYS) be looking forward to your next lesson.
