About Karen

I am an older graduate student in English Composition and Literature and a published writer of Creative non-fiction. I was a graduate teaching assistant for two years, concentrating on helping first- and second-year college students learn critical reading and critical writing skills. I have assisted approximately 75 students to hone their skills and prepare for the writing necessary during the remainders of their college careers.

About the lesson

I approach teaching and learning as a collaborative effort between teacher and pupil. I believe that literary analysis is best accomplished through both verbal and written discussion. An important aspect of teaching critical reading and writing skills is to provide a solid foundation in grammar, as well as leading students to better express their ideas clearly and concisely.

Virtual tutoring sessions are $18/hr. Prepayment for multiple hours are: 5 hrs = $75; 10 hours = $140. Larger package pricing must be negotiated on an individual basis depending on student grade and achievement level, and student commitment.
