About Danica

Hello, I've been helping students improve their academic writing for years, and there's nothing I love more than watching someone discover they're actually a strong writer - they just needed the right guidance. During my undergraduate studies, I won awards for my essays in both Philosophy and English and made the Dean's List. I went on to earn my Master of Fine Arts in writing, so I understand academic writing from both sides - as a student who excelled and now as a professional writer who knows what makes essays truly effective. We can meet wherever works best for you in my neighborhood of East Van - at a cafe, library, online, or in my home office. About the lesson

Good essay writing is about so much more than increasing your grade.

We'll start with you, identifying your areas of challenge. Together we will work on the fundamentals of effective essay writing: structures and techniques, identifying exactly what your teacher wants, planning and organizing your work, and I'll share all my best tips to make your work stand out. The real magic happens when you discover how much strengthening your writing will lead to clearer thinking and enhance your overall ability to learn and understand.

When you learn to construct a compelling argument, analyze evidence thoughtfully, and express complex ideas clearly, you're not just becoming a better student - you're developing critical thinking skills and communication abilities that will serve you in all kinds of relationships, throughout your future career, and in every area of life where you need to explain, persuade, or connect with others.

Each session is tailored to your specific assignment and learning style. Whether you're struggling with thesis statements, organizing your thoughts, analyzing sources, or simply getting started, we'll work together to build both your confidence and your skills. You'll leave with practical strategies you can apply immediately.

Drawing from my experience as an award-winning essayist and professional writer, I'll help you see essay writing not as a hurdle to overcome, but as a powerful tool for thinking, learning, and communicating that you'll use for the rest of your life.
