About Jevon
Hi, I’m Jevon! Originally from Jamaica, my background is in hospitality where I used my fun-loving and enthusiastic personality to entertain guests on cruises and in resorts. This was the perfect opportunity to meet people from different countries and backgrounds, I loved learning about various cultures all while being able to travel the world. My love of travel brought me to Buenos Aires, Argentina where I currently reside. In 2019 I began giving ESL lessons and instantly knew this was what I wanted to do and became TEFL certified in 2020. Since then, I’ve given lessons to students from all over the globe and have helped people with different levels and needs meet their English goals. By creating dynamic lesson plans and using my passion to help students grow, I love seeing the results of our work when I hear “I got the job at the international company!” Or “I got a 100 on my TOEFL test!” I get to be proud of my students, but also of myself that I’ve found a career that works so well with my natural talents and personality.

Hello, I’m Jevon, nice to meet you! My teaching style is multi-faceted which means that I like to break each session up into several different activities in order to sharpen all the various aspects of fluency such as reading, writing, pronunciation, listening comprehension and grammar. Each lesson focuses on a specific topic, depending on my student’s individual needs (ex: business, communication, food, travel, etc.) Here is what you can expect in a typical class with me: Reading: Read a short article aloud to practice pronunciation and gain new vocabulary. (Ex: The dark side of working as a flight attendant) Vocabulary: Learn and practice vocabulary related to the topic (ex: Air travel vocabulary) Dialogue: Practice conversation in different situations (ex: Imagine you’re at the airport and miss your flight, what would you say at the check-in counter?) Listening: Listen to a conversation between native English speakers to practice listening comprehension skills (ex: a flight attendant gives a passenger a meal they cannot eat.) Grammar/Phrases: Revise a grammar point or verb tense (ex: Have you been VS did you go?) Writing: Using a short writing prompt, respond in the chat. (ex: If you could move to any country where would you move and why?) Debate: Using a controversial topic, give your opinion and reasoning (ex: Do you think that every country in the world should have open borders?) Idiom or Phrasal Verb: Learn and practice an idiom or phrasal related to the topic (ex: Does your boss “Run a tight ship”?) Tongue Twister: Practice pronunciation using a tongue twister (ex: To begin to toboggan first, buy a toboggan. But do not buy too big a toboggan! Too big a toboggan is too big a toboggan to buy to begin to toboggan.) Using this method, I’ve received great feedback and seen awesome results. My students enjoy their time in class, and so do I!
