About Marius
I am a PhD-qualified English tutor and experienced university lecturer with approximately 20 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally.
I hold a PhD in English Literature and an MA with Distinction from the University of Manchester, as well as a CELTA teaching qualification. My academic career has included teaching positions at universities in the UK, Hong Kong and the South Pacific, where I have worked with students from a wide range of educational and cultural backgrounds.
Alongside my university teaching, I have extensive experience supporting students with academic writing, literary analysis, research skills, examination preparation and dissertation development. I have taught across several disciplines, giving me a broad understanding of the challenges students encounter at different stages of their education.
I believe that effective tutoring should be intellectually engaging, encouraging and tailored to the individual. My aim is not simply to help students achieve better grades, but to develop the confidence, analytical skills and independence that will benefit them throughout their education.
I offer a professional, approachable and patient teaching style, combining high academic standards with a genuine enthusiasm for helping students succeed.

I am an experienced English tutor and university lecturer with a PhD in English Literature from the University of Manchester, a Master's degree with Distinction, a CELTA qualification, and approximately 20 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally.
My teaching approach is friendly, supportive and flexible, with lessons tailored to the individual student's needs, abilities and objectives. I place particular emphasis on developing confidence, critical thinking and independent learning skills.
Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to develop their own ideas through discussion, close reading, guided analysis and constructive feedback. For students preparing for examinations, I focus on essay structure, effective argumentation, textual analysis and examination techniques. At university level, I offer support with academic writing, research skills, critical analysis and dissertation planning.
I have taught students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and ability levels, including GCSE and A-Level learners, international students, undergraduates and postgraduates. My university teaching experience spans English for Academic Purposes, academic study skills and a variety of humanities and social science disciplines.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged depending on individual requirements.
Above all, I aim to make learning engaging, intellectually stimulating and enjoyable, while helping students achieve measurable improvements in their academic performance.
