About Nathan

Since graduating school, I've spent the last 5 years teaching ESL all over the world. I've worked in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Turkey, Russia, and (of course) the US. During this time, I've helped thousands of students master English and understand how to truly learn languages. Currently, I run my own online ESL school, and offer tutoring to students like you. I work with students of all ages and levels, but especially focus on kids' English, ESL for Immigrants, and ESL for Business.

About the lesson

What does it take to learn a language? Is it hours of grammar exercises, rote memorization, and classes at school? Why is it that so many students(after years of English classes) struggle to speak the language? The truth is that language is something natural, and something enjoyable. It's not the result of years spent locked in a classroom - but the result of meaningful communication. And I should know! I took 4 different languages in school, and left knowing nothing at all. But as an adult, I've managed to learn Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian without ever stepping foot into a classroom! So what's the secret? Very simply, learning how to make language a part of your life. Grammar, reading, writing, and memorization can all be useful - but the only thing that really matters is meaningful communication. After years of teaching ESL in the classroom and online, working with students all around the world, I've seen what really works for language learners.
