About Chris

I have 15 years experience as a special ed teacher and ACT prep coach. I enjoy working with students of all ability levels, and believe that all students should be self-directed learners who take personal ownership in their academic success.

About the lesson

I like to learn about my students' interests to drive my approach to instruction. Children are like golf balls and you need to "play them where they lie." Pretesting should identify areas where improvement is needed, and the instructional focus should prioritize on areas where gains can be made quickly.

Details

I have research based ACT instructional materials that include practice pretests and posttests, and recommend making a minimum commitment to receiving 10 hours of instruction. For students who are on a budget, I can offer a streamlined program. I also offer 2 hour sessions in basic test taking strategy and open response writing.

I also have a lot of experience working with students with sensory impairments, students on the spectrum, and students on IEPs and 504 plans. It's personally important to me that every student receives a free and appropriate public education, and I'll be happy to speak to you about your children's academic needs even if you're not a client.
