About Dimitar

Hi! I'm a qualified English teacher based in the United Kingdom, with a 250-hour Level 5 TEFL Diploma and experience teaching English both in person and online. I graduated with a degree in Accounting and Finance after four years of university study in the UK.

As someone who learned English as a foreign language myself, I understand the challenges that students face, from struggling to find the right words to building the confidence to speak naturally.

I've gained practical teaching experience in Shantou, China, where I taught English to Chinese students, as well as through my previous online teaching experience. These opportunities have helped me develop a flexible and supportive teaching approach that adapts to different learning styles, abilities and goals.

 My native language is Bulgarian, and I also speak Greek and Mandarin Chinese. Having studied Mandarin for four years and currently working towards HSK 6, I understand what it takes to make progress in a challenging language. For Chinese-speaking students, I can also use Mandarin to explain difficult vocabulary, grammar and concepts whenever necessary. This can be particularly helpful for beginners who aren't yet comfortable communicating entirely in English.

My lessons are designed around one simple goal: helping you become more confident and comfortable using English in real-life situations.

 Before we begin, I'll take some time to understand your current level, learning goals and the areas you'd like to improve. This allows me to create lessons that are relevant to you rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

 What can you expect from my lessons?

 • Speaking practice: We'll have conversations about everyday topics, your interests and real-life situations to help you develop fluency and confidence.
 • Grammar and vocabulary: I'll explain new concepts clearly, provide practical examples and help you use them naturally in conversation.
 • Pronunciation: We'll work on improving clarity, recognising common pronunciation mistakes and speaking more naturally.
 • Listening and comprehension: We'll use dialogues, videos and other suitable materials to develop your understanding of spoken English.
 • Personalised feedback: I'll identify areas for improvement, correct mistakes constructively and help you understand how to avoid repeating them.

 How are my lessons structured?

 A typical 60-minute lesson may include a short conversation to warm up, an introduction to a new topic or language skill, guided practice and a final speaking activity to put everything into use. However, the structure is flexible. If your main priority is conversation, we can spend most of the lesson speaking. If you need more help with grammar, we can focus on explanations and exercises instead.
 I aim to make every lesson interactive and productive, while creating a comfortable environment where you feel confident asking questions and making mistakes.

I offer flexible online lessons throughout the week, including evenings and weekends. Please contact me to discuss a suitable time.
