About Mataya

Hello! My name is Mataya, and I'm a recent graduate of Harvard University, where I concentrated in Linguistics and Romance Languages and Literature! I’m passionate about law and educational advocacy, and much of my college work has centered on the local Haitian community in Boston. I have lots of tutoring experience! Throughout college, I worked as a private tutor in Math, English, and Social Science, and I taught small academies on business, consulting, and pre-law through the Harvard Student Agencies. I also volunteered to teach at local prisons to help people achieve the GEDs. For fun, I love reading, sometimes classical literature, but often YA ‘novels’; being outdoors; video games, especially The Legend of Zelda; and tennis. I look forward to meeting and working with you!

About the lesson

I take a personalized approach to tutoring, focusing on each student’s unique learning style and needs. My lessons are clear, engaging, and designed to build confidence while improving skills. I’m patient, supportive, and committed to helping students reach their goals, whether it’s mastering a difficult concept, preparing for a test, or improving overall performance. I also emphasize open communication with parents to track progress and address concerns. With my experience as a teacher and passion for education, I create a positive learning environment where students feel motivated to succeed :)
