About Shantel

Hello! My name is Shantel, and I am a certified Texas educator with over 15 years of experience teaching young learners in early childhood through 2nd grade. I specialize in ESL instruction and foundational literacy development. My approach is nurturing, structured, and student-centered. I am committed to helping children grow into confident, capable readers by using proven strategies and developmentally appropriate practices. About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on building strong foundational literacy skills through engaging, research-based instruction. I use UFLI, Power of Patterns, and structured phonics lessons to support early readers in developing confidence and fluency. A typical lesson includes a warm-up, phonemic awareness activities, targeted phonics instruction, and interactive reading or writing practice. I adapt each session to meet the individual needs of Pre-K to 2nd grade learners, especially those in ESL or bilingual settings. With over 15 years of teaching experience, I create a nurturing, student-centered environment where young learners feel safe to take risks and grow. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with each child and make learning both fun and meaningful.
