About Cassie
I graduated with a bachelor's from the University of North Texas. My teaching certificate for Interdisciplinary Studies English, Language, and Reading for Grades 4-8 remains current.
I taught both 7th and 8th grade for three consecutive school years at Carroll ISD in Texas along with 1 year of student teaching at Argyle ISD. Additionally, I have prior experience tutoring ages 6-14 in Reading and Writing for after-school care programs.
While teaching at Carroll ISD, I was a former director and editor for the competitive essay writing UIL program placing my student group in the top 3. I also facilitated state standardized testing for Texas providing accurate Reading and Writing test prep walkthroughs.
Although I have since changed my full-time career, teaching and writing continue to be a passion of mine!

I personalize all lessons to fit the individual needs of each learner. Some involve interactive lessons through learning programs, while others are designed for reviewing familiar topics.
A reading/writing lesson for explicit learning of a newer topic will involve modeling an example while providing ingenuitive strategies for a beginning approach and allowing the learner to follow.
I always match learners where they are first and scaffold lessons/tutoring sessions as we build on those existing skills.
My previous teaching experience and knowledge of state standardized test scoring will provide accurate techniques for becoming an accomplished writer and a mindful reader.
I specialize in the following for grades 4th-12th, but I welcome all ages!

As an aid, I loved watching Cassie engage her students. She uses a variety of ways to reach all of her kids. She also puts a lot of work into her lesson plans with the use of manipulatives and technology to help them really understand grammar concepts.
Ms. Devino was a great teacher to work with. She is an exceptional communicator and really slows down her pace for students who need it!
