About Kerry

Hi my name is Kerry Eggeling I am South African, currently living in Cape Town. I was a nursery school teacher in Qatar, where for about the last 4 years I was teaching in English, to children ranging between10 month-4 years old. Prior to that I was a Teacher’s Assistant. I really enjoy teaching and love to see the little students grow, develop and change over time. Since lockdown in March due to Covid-19, I had to reinvent my teaching style and created lessons to do with the kiddies over zoom, to keep them interested and interacting I had to get very creative on how to make it fun, by playing games with them and singing songs as well as doing arts and crafts with them. I had to structure lesson plans well in advance to share with the parents, so that they could prepare and get the kids ready for the online sessions. It was so cute seeing the children recognize me and their friends on their mobile devices and get them to share and interact in sessions.

During lockdown I also did my TEFL certification, as well as Specializing in teaching for early years. I also completed a course in Nutrition for early years. Unfortunately, due to covid-19, the nursery school I was working for in Qatar was quite severely impacted financially & I had to repatriate back to South Africa.

I am looking for opportunities to work with online students, helping them become proficient in English, or providing other such online support.

I really enjoy the outdoors and I love animals. I am passionate about teaching and would hopefully one day get back into jointly working with disabled children and horses - as this is such a beautiful bond of trust between child and animal and most of the time this bond is unbreakable.

About the lesson

I will be teaching through games and fun activities. Will be reading stories and making up your own stories to see how much you have understood. Learning through fun and games is the best way however we do have some serious times to understand the English language.
