About Sam

Sam Goswell is a professional award-winning drummer, producer, and educator with experience in live performance, recording, and private instruction. He is committed to helping students build strong fundamentals while also developing confidence, creativity, and a deeper understanding of music.

Before finishing high school, Sam won both the Drums Live III Groove Competition and the Stanton Moore Global Drumming Competition. He later studied at Humber College, where he trained with respected musicians including Larnell Lewis, Mark Kelso, Chendy León, Steve Mancuso, and Bob McLaren.

Sam has since performed and toured with artists across multiple genres including indie rock, pop, jazz fusion, country, and alternative music, with experience spanning Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. He also works in production, songwriting, and recording, which allows him to bring a well-rounded and modern perspective to his teaching.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, level, and musical interests. I focus on building a strong foundation through technique, timing, subdivisions, groove, coordination, and feel, while also showing how these skills apply in real musical situations. The goal is not just to improve your drumming, but to help you become a more confident, creative, and musical player.

A typical lesson includes a warm-up, focused work on a key topic, and practical exercises that support a clear practice routine. I like to connect multiple areas of drumming within the same lesson so that technique, timing, feel, and musical understanding develop together.

As a professional drummer, producer, and educator, I bring both technical and musical insight to my teaching. These lessons are ideal for beginners who want to start right, intermediate players who want to improve their groove and confidence, and musicians looking to deepen their creativity on the instrument.
